introducing

3 steps

Following on from the success of our award winning film, ‘The Rich and The Pure’, Unleashed Community Drama present their second short film ‘3 Steps’, which unashamedly shines a spotlight on the whole issue of homelessness. Having worked closely with the ex-homeless and recovery community of Torbay for almost a decade, Unleashed Community Drama presents the true story of four real homeless people, with the sole aim of bringing real understanding to the issue of homelessness and dispelling the bigotry and hatred that many folk who have lost everything have to endure.

welcome to the

unleashed theatre company

Welcome to Unleashed Theatre Company’s brand new website. I cannot believe that it was over twenty years ago we performed our very first production, when a rag bag of disparate actors stepped on to the stage at The Little Theatre in Torquay to perform a modern dress version of St John’s Gospel.

Over the subsequent years we performed many productions such as “The Hiding Place” and “Walkout”, with a message of hope. As a result in 2009 we were commissioned by Buckfast Abbey to produce their summer outreach production, which we did for the next ten years and it was during this period we officially became Unleashed Theatre Company.

In 2014 we launched Unleashed Community Drama a theatre group specifically for folk who were either homeless or on a 12 step programme. This group meets every week, 51 weeks of the year and has grown into an inspirational community of actors all on a journey of recovery together. Two years ago we launched Unleashed Community Choir for the very same community.

We hope this site will give you a real insight into our vision and purpose:  a community that seeks to ‘unleash the potential within’ of anyone who’s welcome to join us.

We were privileged to be able to watch '3 Steps' at church this morning - what a film - so well deserving of it's award. Is it possible to watch it online anywhere? Is there a way to pay to view it maybe? Thank you and God bless your work 🙏 ... See MoreSee Less

I had to wait until the last show to see it and it was well worth the wait. This theatre group has a track record of presenting polished productions with a core of regular performers as well as some new cast members.'Agatha Christie, Her Life In Words and Music' unthreaded and celebrated her life story with poignancy and humour. Although the story has a span of 86 years, from growing up as a young girl in Torquay until her death in 1976, this production revolved around the intriguing years when many of her stories are set, the 20s/30s.The music evoked the atmosphere of that age of jazz. That mood was enhanced by the simple stage set as well as the glamorous costumes of the period. The singing was superb, every member was given time to shine in the spotlight, and the acting, especially during the imitation of story lines from her books, was carried out with just the right touch of drama and wit.The cast were clearly enjoying the presentation as was the enthusiastic audience.Sadly tonight's was the last performance of what has been a sucsessful run and bringing an end to the Agatha Christie festival week here in Torquay. ...
